Dan Renfrow
Dan Renfrow
Mr. Renfrow joined the organization in 2001. He is a graduate of Westminster College and the Cannon Trust School. Mr. Renfrow is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). For more than 25 years he has worked with clients in the areas of estate and financial planning and investment management. Mr. Renfrow is a past president of the Rape and Abuse Crisis Services Board of Directors, and the Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors. He is currently serving as a Board Member for the Cole County Residential Services Board, is a member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson City Host Lion's Club.

Randy McPhail
Vice President & Trust Officer
Mr. McPhail joined Hawthorn Bank in 2016. Mr. McPhail is a Vice President and Trust Officer. Mr. McPhail's primary focus is on Trust and Estate Planning, Asset Management, Custody, Mergers and Acquisitions, Environmental Remediation Trusts, Construction Retainages, Court Ordered Qualified Settlement Funds, and Liquidation Trusts. Mr. McPhail began his career in corporate trust in 1990 and worked for several corporate trust departments, including UMB Bank, until 2000. Mr. McPhail spent 10 years at Columbia Capital Management. He then rejoined UMB Bank's Corporate Trust and Escrow Services division before coming to Hawthorn. Mr. McPhail holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Kansas and attended Cannon Corporate Trust School.
Karen Prenger
Assistant Vice President & Trust Administrator
Mrs. Prenger joined the organization in 1979 where she began her career in the Loan Department. Later in 1982 she transferred to Trust Services where she has held a variety of positions. For many years she was responsible for the Trust Operations area and is currently serving as Trust Administrator. She is a native of Jefferson City. Mrs. Prenger has completed courses through the Center of Financial training, Nichols Career Center and SunGard training for Trust Operations. Mrs. Prenger is active in her church and serves on various committees. She volunteers at Immaculate Conception School and is a member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce and the East Side Business Association.
